Мой сын написал для меня веселые истории для запоминания английских слов концептуального значения

Всегда хотелось знать английский язык. Учила его в школе, в институте, учила самостоятельно по самоучителям, по курсам в интернете, но на определенной стадии дело застопоривалось и никак не продвигалось вперед. Мой сын, хорошо владеющий английским, решил помочь мне преодолеть препятствие.

Первоначальное тестирование моих знаний показало, что мой словарный запас не так уж и мал, я знаю названия многих вещей и знаю основные глаголы, и даже имею достаточное представление о временах. Трудности возникли в запоминании слов, имеющих концептуальное значение. Таких как: предпочтение (preference), уверенность (confidence), предположение (guess), спор (argument), и т.п.. Ну, никак не хотят они оставаться в голове, просто лишь только в одно ухо, сразу же вон из другого.

Используя современные возможности мой сын написал для меня тексты с картинками. Они забавные, с юмором и пробуждают интуицию. Трудные слова стали запоминаться. Размещаю здесь некоторые истории. Вдруг пригодятся еще кому-нибудь для пополнения словаря.

Tom was more likely to cause trouble than help anyone. One beautiful day, he woke up and decided to open a pet club in his garage. At first, everyone thought it was a great idea, although his sister felt a little frightened because Tom always had strange ideas.

“Animals need a place where they belong,” Tom said calmly.

His best friend Max the pet salesman began to doubt the plan. “Last week you tried to teach a fish to dance.”

Still, Tom did not hesitate. He continuously talked about how his pet club would become famous. He even made the claim that a wise turtle named Bob would help solve every problem.

On the first day, many animals arrived at the garage. A huge dog barked loudly, and the noise made people uncomfortable. Meanwhile, a badger escaped from a box and ran away. Tom tried to handle the situation, but the badger pushed him into a bucket of water.

“That could not get worse,” Max the pet salesman muttered.

But it did.

A mysterious shadow began to move near the door. Everyone felt uncertain. Then a cat began to emerge from under the table. The children laughed.

Whenever people asked Tom questions, he gave strange answers.

“Will my rabbit be okay here?”

“True friendship gives animals strength,” Tom replied.

“That does not answer the question,” Max the pet salesman said.

Soon, another problem began to occur. Two boys were cheating during a turtle race by trying to pull their turtle across the floor with a string. Tom wanted to punish them, but he slipped on some water instead. The echo of laughter filled the garage.

Tom felt embarrassed, although he tried not to show it. His conscience told him the pet club was becoming a problem.

Then the turtle suddenly stopped moving.

“I think it died!” shouted a little girl.

“No,” Max said. “It just fell asleep.”

At the end of the day, Tom looked tired and full of regret. Nevertheless, he still believed his pet club could exist and be successful.

“Next time,” Tom said, “everything will be fair.”

“That matters,” Max replied.

Tom smiled. “This time, I will be more careful.”

Max looked at the broken chairs, the wet floor, and the sleeping turtle.

“I doubt that,” he said.
